New Details for Pro Evolution Soccer 4 on Xbox

Konami of Europe has confirmed the first details of Pro Evolution Soccer 4. The game is due for release on PS2 and Xbox as well as the PC in the fourth quarter of this year. Shingo Takatsuka and his team of footballing experts at Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo are handling development chores. Konami TYO has introduced a wealth of new moves and tricks ranging from additional free kick and penalty techniques to an indirect free kick move.

More individuality can be found in the ways players run and control the ball. Advanced stats affect how well players can bring a high or fast ball under control and hit it past an encroaching defender or tap it to a team-mate. A new dribbling system is also available that allows players to try to pass opposing players. Crosses and cutback passes can now be made with more precision as well.

Pro Evolution Soccer 4 also boasts an on-screen referee for the first time. Previous versions have featured an invisible referee - but Konami's game now features an official who runs up and down the field monitoring plays and stepping in to calm things down when the action gets heated. The referee AI has also been further refined to allow for calls on minor infringements. Each of the referees available will react to fouls differently depending on how strict they are.

Further additions include more club and international teams as well as extra formation screens. The popular Master League has also been improved: A new My Best Eleven option allows fans to save their best teams for prosperity and can force athletes to retire through severe injury during the course of a Master League season - forcing the player to work around the loss of key stars and restructure around the abilities of suitable replacements.
