Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars - Will We Really See it in May?
by UtahSaint 4/21/2008
Remember id Software? Once upon a time they were important. Now-a-days they're relegated to 3rd tier status as they release games about as often as the Cubs win the World Series. (sorry cubs fans). id Software are now claiming the battle for Earth will be waged on retail shelves as they confirmed that Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars will begin shipping on May 27, 2008 and arriving on European and Australian store shelves on May 30, 2008.
Based on the game from id Software and Splash Damage for Windows PC that won more than forty E3, Editor’s Choice and Game of the Year awards, Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars pits the armies of Earth’s Global Defense Force (GDF) against the invading alien menace, the Strogg. Set within the expansive QUAKE universe in the year 2065, this ultimate team and mission-based multiplayer warfare game offers consoler gamers distinct classes, vehicles and weapons to choose from, giving players countless ways to join the battle. Players work as a team to defeat the enemy and achieve objectives either online against other players or battle offline with surprisingly lifelike AI.
Nerve Software, the Dallas-based independent developer responsible for Return to Castle Wolfenstein Multiplayer for the PC, Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War for Xbox and DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil for the PC and Xbox, created the Xbox 360 version of the game with Activision’s Underground developer, handling PLAYSTATION 3 duties.
Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars is powered by id Software’s revolutionary MegaTexture rendering technology, delivering amazingly-detailed, massive battlefields located in desert, arctic and tropical environments that feature realistic terrain, lighting, special effects and atmospheric conditions, giving console gamers the ultimate environment for objective-based, online team action.

All that being said, id do make some kick ass games... they're just slow mofos.... bit like me.
i forgot all about id - are they still riding the Wolfenstein/Doom horse, saying "we're the greatest?" maybe back in 1994... but id, imho are a dead company/brand to me.
