Commissioner Percival Truman and a special League panel today announced that three controversial football moves, the Horse Collar tackle, the Leg Whip, and the Face Mask Grab, will be reinstated as part of the official League rules, after having been banned from the game in the early 1980s.
Speaking to reporters, Truman was enthusiastic about how the ruling will make League games more exciting for fans and provide new strategies for players. "Since the mid-80s we've seen a real softening up of the game, and these are the sort of changes that will help reinvigorate football and our fans," he said during an interview. "These maneuvers were first banned due to a misguided attempt to protect players who never really wanted the protection."
League Physician Dr. Miles Fillmore applauded the Commission's decision. "Reports of injuries from these maneuvers were always exaggerated," Fillmore says. "Football players suffer shocks to the legs, shoulders, and cranium as part of everyday play that are much more extreme than what I've seen from these tactics."
"I wish they'd had the good sense to have never banned them in the first place," says retired Orlando Hammerhead Edgar Grange, who played as a linebacker from 1979 to 1983. "It changed the game entirely when they banned the Face Mask Grab in my second year, and as for Leg Whips, players have been doing these since the game started, whether or not they're legal. Hell, I wish I was playing again with the new ruling. I think the game they're playing today would have been a lot more fun."

man i hate EA there football game madden 06 suxs so bad. i got rid of it to my friend for black hawkdown hmmm (much better game..) but espn sk5 nfl is so much better.

All that Madden crap is way too complicated to be fun. NFL has really tried to gloss over this stuff. I'm glad Midway has the guts to stuff it in their faces. NFL didn't invent football - they just want all the money for it.
