Xbox Owners - Get Your Power Cord Replaced *NOW* |

Microsoft is voluntarily replacing power cords on more than 14 million Xbox game consoles worldwide to protect consumers and their Xbox "from rare electrical component failures that can pose a fire hazard,'' the company said Thursday. The move comes after 30 instances worldwide where a cord failure caused minor injury or property damage.
Xbox said consoles manufactured before Oct. 23, 2003, require a replacement power cord. The Xbox launched in November 2001 and there are some 20 million units worldwide. Microsoft said fewer than one in 10,000 consoles have experienced the problem. In all, there have been 1,400 consoles with component failures, either melted power cord tips or internal Xbox damage.
In seven instances worldwide over three years, customers reported sustaining a minor burn to their hand, Microsoft said. The company declined to say where the Canadian incident occurred.
Xbox said the injury "was similar to touching a hot iron.''
In 23 instances, users reported smoke damage, or minor damage to a carpet or entertainment centre.
"It is very contained,'' Barber said in an interview. "It is extremely rare that these things would happen, but we have the information and we have the solution. Hence we've made this announcement. And we'd like to get power cords to everybody so that we can prevent any more (incidents).''
To receive the replacement cords, Xbox owners can go to www.xbox.com and click on the Power Cord Replacement for Xbox link or call (866) 271-0450. There is no charge for the replacement cords, which Xbox said should arrive in two to four weeks. Microsoft recommends that console owners waiting for a new cord should turn off their Xbox when it is left unattended.

Anyway, 10000 out of almost 20 million XBOX's that are out there is really low. Try .0005%
No risk at all, I wouldn't bother :P

That is nice but I have been to xbox.com found the link but they don’t have South Africa in the region selection so what am I going to be doing I'm ganna be burning. Why just because of the damn region not being there happy days. But if Microsoft would get off there rich assess and launch Xbox here ppl like me would not be having this problem :@
