Is Microsoft Behind The Major Ynos Site? Hmm... |

PC Magazine John Dvorak seems to think so. As you may or may not know, the Major Ynos site is the Sony fans answer to the Major Nelson blog [Nelson an MS Employee]. So pulling this kind of stunt would be quite a reverse-psychological-cold-war-professor-xavier type of trick.
This whole thing was aroused when Dvorak did some investigating about the Ynos creator who goes by the name "Mark Creig" who claims to be a well known writer for the Gaming Industry. His research turned up zip, nada, nothin'. So that sparked Dvorak to dig a little deeper.
But why would Microsoft create a site that seems to talk down the Xbox 360 capabilities over and over again, relentlessly angering Xbox fanboys to come to it's defense? Well Dvorak believes for that reason alone [Xbox fanboys defending the system] is what the site is really all about. He also cites that Microsoft has a history of doing something as insane as reverse-marketing in the example of what Microsoft pulled off with the Windows vs. OS/2 war.
On a side note, it has been reported that the Major Ynos site was apparently hacked and the hacker put up the PC article on the front page of the Ynos site. Another interesting point is that the site may very well be dead now, mysteriously as the Xbox 360 launches. There is currently no more content visible on the site and Dvorak states that the site violated the Terms of Service agreement when whomever registered the site.
