Call of Duty 3 - Videos. Images. Info. Comparison.
by Coola 7/11/2006
Here hot off the press are new images, videos and information for Call of Duty 3. We also took the liberty into comparing how the game looks visually on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the Wii. The results may surprise you.
The follow-up to the #1 next-generation game, Call of Duty 3 delivers the intensity of being closer than ever to the fury of combat during the Normandy Breakout, the historic campaign that made the liberation of Paris possible and brought the Allies a step closer to Berlin. Through a seamless narrative that delivers the rush of unrelenting battle and breathtaking action, players assume the roles of four ordinary Allied soldiers—American, British, Canadian and Polish—and are thrust onto an authentic, living battlefield for an unprecedented variety of combat, with advanced high-definition graphics, detailed character animations and explosive on-screen action, delivering the most immersive and cinematically intense war experience ever.
Key Features:
The Power of Next-Gen – Built from the ground-up for next-gen consoles, Call of Duty 3 brings the battle to life with advanced graphics, a new physics engine, a procedural environment and detailed ensemble animations that deliver the most cinematic war experience ever.
Battle Actions – An all-new close-quarters battle mechanic allows players to fight hand-to-hand, improvise explosive devices, disarm traps and execute a host of other battlefield situations that require cunning and rapid reflexes to survive.
Branching Mission Paths – Next-generation level design provides multiple attack routes that let players decide how to confront the enemy – flank an opponent, or hit him head-on. Each unique mission path requires special tactics, from sniping and demolition to all-out head-on clashes.
Nowhere to Hide – Environmental physics allow players to destroy enemy soft cover hideouts, forcing foes out in the open. But be wary, opponents can eliminate your protective cover as well.
Team-based Multiplayer with Vehicles – Combined arms and team-based combat provides unprecedented depth and variety by allowing up to 24-players to battle it out online with the option of single or split-screen Internet play. Gamers have the choice to play as infantry or commandeer multiple-occupancy vehicles, including tanks, jeeps, and motorcycles with side-cars, leading to unique mobile combat roles for all-out, multiplayer mayhem. Call of Duty 3 also offers soldier classes, each with class specific abilities, and a ranking system for truly diversified squad combat.
Call of Duty 3 In-Game Footage:
"Church Tower"
"Tank Ride"
"Close Quarters"
Last but not least, we included screenshots from the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii versions of Call of Duty 3 just for comparison sake. None of the versions look different to the others except for the Wii which looks to be lacking just a bit. Could this be the trend for multi-platform games in the future?

The Wii guys look funny. The ps3 version doesn't look any better than the 360 version and this game will rock my socks!

Looking forward to this game. I really don't think the Wii looks too bad considering it's hardware.

Multi platform games will almost always look the same, except for maybe on the frame rate department... Just look at all the sports game and GTAs they all look basically the same cuz they all use the same engine... DUH.
The interesting part about this tho :) is that the ps3 is doing the same type of graphics with its @!*% generation games as the x360(which is in its 2nd generation games)

That was a completely retarded statement provided to you by the one and only BER!
First of all, the GTA games look a lot better on XBOX than on PS2. Second of all, you've gotta be freakin kidding me if you think that the PS2 can do anything remotely similar to games like Lost Planet, which are a good indication of what's to come on the 360. The same goes to even older games like King Kong. Don't even make me dig up the cross-platform comparisons from the PS2 to the 360 version.

Just when you think Ber is gone for good, he comes back to make an a$$ of himself again. Seriously Ber, when are you ever going to join a PS3 fan site, or just come out of the closet with your 360?

There is no way I'll hold a controller like the guy in the second Wii shot. You might as well play an FPS with a light gun.

Jolly you're a total idiot... Look at GTA it looks exactly the same(same animations, same colors, same every) on the xbox and ps2 except that MAYBE the xbox version has a better frame rate and crisper looks but thats about it. BUT IT IS NOT a total different game graphic or gameplay wise...
noticed that i said "ALMOST ALWAYS" when games are multiplatform they look basically the same... If you're trying to deny that you're just a total idiot. You shouldnt be even posting out your opinions... Is Lost planet multiplatform? Why the @!*% are you mentioning that piece of shit?...
And this is where you're suposed to get off the crack bro... King Kong has a total diferent engine on the x360 than even the one on xbox1... You know, this is where you were suposed to apply my ALMOST ALWAYS statement... I bet you that if they were to make King Kong for the ps3 and x360 they'd look exactly the same even when clearly we all know the ps3 is more powerful ;).(that hurts right)
What a @!*%ing idiot...

Call of Duty started out as a PC game and garnered a large following, especially when the new MOH (at the time) was so lame (because MOH's devs left EA to form their own company). What I want to know is why COD2 on the PC had ABSOLUTELY NO CHEAT COUNTERMEASURES! That was just a slap in the face to PC gamers, but now that COD3 isn't even going to be released on the PC, I have to ask " WTF does Treyarch have against PC gamers?" It just seems stupid not to release this game on the PC. I will definately play it on my X360 but I will be lamenting the loss of my precise mouse control.

#1. Ber, will you stop and use some common sense for a second? You're saying "The interesting part is that the PS3 is doing the same with its first generation of games as the 360 is with its second". Press pause on your little over-heating brain for a second, and think about this. The only reason why those games are 2nd generation 360 games and 1st generation PS3 games, is the fact that the PS3 hasn't come out yet. Does that make the PS3 more powerful simply because it's coming out later but can play the same games? The 360 was capable of playing THOSE SAME GAMES right out of the box when the console was released, but the GAMES just hadn't been made yet. Am I correct? So exactly what makes that interesting? The fact that it's playing the same game? All it means is that Sony is getting a later start than 360. We'll probably be playing these games on the 360 before the PS3 is even available. How is that interesting? It has nothing to do with the console. It has to do with the GAME PROGRAMMERS and WHEN THEY MADE THE GAMES. The 360 has always had the same abilities since it was first released. You act like it's impressive that the PS3 can do it right out of the box on the first generation.... your perception of this is amazingly idiotic.
#2. You're stating that the only difference in almost all multi-platform games is the frame rate, which isn't true. Lighting, textures, anti-aliasing, frame rate, load times, and other factors are important (especially in this past generation). Especially if it's a game that anybody actually gives a d@mn about and isn't some half-@ssed P.O.S.
Ber honestly, show me a game on PS2 that looks equal to its 360 counterpart... and it had better be a game that's WORTH talking about and not some sh*tty game that's based on a movie or something that only a moron would play anyway. In other words, don't pick a game that naturally just looks like a PS2 steaming pile of sh*t and looks crappy on 360 subsequently. I mentioned Lost Planet not because it's multiplatform (because it isn't), but because it's a game that actually shows some of the 360's potential. There WILL be multiplatform games that look like that soon enough, and you act as if the PS2 can hang right along side it, which it couldn't.

P.S. the other flaw with your multiplatform argument is this:
Games (such as King Kong) have different engines on systems like the 360 than on the last generation. Duh. You're basically saying "Derrrr the PS2 can play a game that looks exactly like one on the 360.... as long as they don't improve the 360 version and leave it exactly like the PS2 version". WTF? That's like saying "My car can run just as fast as your car, as long as you have 4 flat tires and let me get a head start.

Ber is quite the sony fanboy. If the ps3 is so powerful how come we haven't seen any actual game play that looks anywhere near as good as Halo 3. And don't even mention the prerendered MGS trailor. Sony fanboys are just upset because their ps3 is going to go down in flames. I think the guy had the right idea earlier when he suggested you go join a ps3 fan site.

#1. You just ignored everything that we were talking about and got off topic.
#2. Actually, I'm 22 and now I see no reason to argue with you since you confirmed your age. College education versus Jr. High education seems to make a big difference.

I agree with jolly all the way. The Xbox verison of almost every game that is multiplatform looks better. No one said they hope the PS3 fail (in which i do), and Ber, you really just have no idea on 97% of the things you say.

I was hoping that CoD2 would appear on PS3 as well as the next Fight Night(which should end up on it one way or another). But seriously there wasnt any game at the Xbox360 launch tthat really pushed it, even with notables such as Fight Night R3 and King Kong. And guys it isnt really fair to compare the Xbox360 versions of the game compared to its PS2 counterparts , or in Fight Night R3's case, to either of the inferior versions Fight Night R3 game because the Xbox360 version made them both look like total a$$. The Ps2 has been showing its age for quite sometime now, but I dont know if any PS2 fanboy realizes it yet. Buying inferior PS2 software is either just a matter of choice or a 'strike' against MS as its just another dollar for Sony, and that means another dollar less for MS. But come on PS2 guys, its not like the PS3's graphics are gonna get better just because you dont buy the Xbox360 and only buy Ps2 games..sheeesh. Because in my opinion the Ps2's graphics have been stinking like week old s*men as of late, just look at NCAA '07.
P.S. I heard the funniest thing in EB yesterday about how the dude was gonna sell his Xbox360 for the PS3. I laughed to myself, that its not the fact that he selling it ,its the fact that MS(as well as other game companies) could care less what you do with the console after the retailers sell it to you. So I told him to go ahead and sell the Xbox360, its not like its helping PS3 sales as of right now. But to let the cat out of the bag, Ber the Ps3 may not have enough edge to totally annihalate MS this year, unless tSony drops the console price to about $150 bucks.

i think most of 360's 1st gen games were just games that has been converted from other platform to the 360 , i mean most of it wan't true next gen . .it's just xbox games with better lighting and texture , even PGR they said only used not totaly 1/2 the power of 360 !!! 1st generation of true next gen graphics comes when gears of war , lost planet , call of duty 3 , mass effect and the release of PS3 . . . ok let's talk ps3 . . from 2 hdmi port lot's of usb's , and when it came to the finall it only has 1 hdmi , a usb port and standart av out , with the choice of 20 or 60gig HD . . and rumor that cpu has a slight problem . . .. i might say the only major advantage of ps3 is the blue ray drive that put's lot's of data into one disc . . . much data can be stored emans much more data can be used for graphics , movies and effect . . . i don't say the PS3 will be bad . . . but u can trust all what is writen on paper . .u've got to look at what the hardware it self is capable . . . . and u goota think what happend if the xbox uses blueray drive as well or if ps3 only uses dvd rom !!! . . then again this is just my speculation based on information. . .so my guess is 360 can pull out a bit more than ps3 , but average gamer i guess won't notice the difference anyway . he he he

that is what I have been saying for a while. And the CPU problem rumor you heard about has to do with the SPE's which would contribute to CELL overhead and heat production. I think the average gamers knows.....its just a matter of who's going to buy it and who will not.

I personally dont know why Sony has kept on stallin' the launch of the Playstation 3.... Microsoft has done a great job with the 360 and especially with the continuation of Xbox Live . Graphics look good but the launch was rushed. I think if one of the consoles launched about now or in April that would've been right, they could have corrected many bugs and tech difficulties... such as the "three red lights of doom" for the xbox 360. Seriously, people freak when they see that. Specs-wise they wud b about the same but i think Microsoft has made the Xbox 360 a tad more attractive , my choice -Xbox 360 of course ! : D
