Call of Duty 3 - Xbox Live Connection Problems |

I loved COD2 last year, so when COD3 was released a couple of weeks back, I was happier than R.Kelly at recess. I duly ran through a couple of missions - just to get back in the flow - check out the graphics and test out the vehicles. Then I went online to open up some wup-ass. And that my Kazakhstanian friends, is where all hell broke loose.
Remember a year ago in COD2 how no-one could get online and play a game... Well that problem is back. And Activision/Treyarch have not fixed the problem yet...
So, whats a soldier from Alpha-Bravo company gonna do to get online and nail some nazis? Thats right, he's going to enter the demilitarized zone, and open up his router and get a little port-forwarding going on.
Here's the skinny:
COD3 requires an "Open" NAT setting for your broadband experience - if you are running through a router, chances are your NAT settings are "Strict" - meaning no online COD3 play for you trooper.
To get around this, you're gonna have to scare the crap out of yourself, and set the IP address of your Xbox 360 to a static address - then goto the config section of your router and open up ports 88 and 3074. It sounds scary - but it should take you about 5 mins to do, then you can load up your M1 and kill off a few more brown-shirts.

I dont see what the fuss is I have no problem connecting to an unranked match. And yes i have a router. The game is good, different for sure from cod2, but good in its own right

hey moat - of course u wouldnt see what the fuss is about if u can connect. if your one of the thousands of players that CANT connect though, you'd probably understand where utah is coming from

i think its a blast online, I did find myself getting bored but then i just went around hitting my team mates in the head with my gun, or better yet fire a couple of bullets at them from the bushes and watch them jump around looking for the other team, if team damage is on of course

What if I am on a college connection, which has some sort of firewall, but my NAT is still set to Open when I test my live connection? I still can't join games 95% of the time in CoD3. Does anybody know what could be wrong and how to fix it?

i recently bought cod 3 and im tryin 2 do sum port fowardin, n chage my Xbox 360 to a static ip does ne body know where i can get my Ip settings, cos der not listed on Tom Canns page. I have not touched my 360 in about 8 months because every time I try to go online on COD3, I get booted out of the game in the first 2 min. I tried to go onto COD3 online this afternoon, and surprise surprise, I got the boot after 2min...I am cancelling my subscription to xbox live and selling my 360 and getting a PS3 where I can go online for free with less issues....I thought that since I paid for the xbox subscription, there would be little, if any problems and if there were some, they would be fixed in a timely fashion....such is not the case!! I am sick of gettting RIPPED off by Xbox!! GOODBYE AND GOOD RIDDENS XBOX 360, AND HELLO PS3, HERE I COME!!

Well I have the Solution I just did this an hour ago to see if it was worth my time to buy COD3 back from the evil hands of Gamestop and fix it. I went to set my IP to static and it wouldn't work for me so I gave up and switched it back to automatic. Just to make sure my connection would work I hit test Xbox Live. after It got to Xbox live on the test I got bored and hit cancel but I saw it blink Open on NAT. I was curious to see if it was an error so I did it again and when it got to NAT it said open I thought back to the last time I checked it had to be like 6 months ago and thought to myself what happened in that time to my network. Fios happened. I switched to Verizon Fios (mostly for the free HDTV) now I return to the battlefield once more and go to gamestop and do the old switcheroo Call of Duty 2 (my estimated value at -7.00 because I got it scratched 900 times) and BattleField Modern Combat (about 5 dollars mabe) for Call of Duty 3 (about 22.00 used). I remember the worst part of being unable to play Call of Duty online. I was able to play once and it was awsome. now me and my buddies are going to have a COD3 fiesta and all watch out While I was out I was training at Graw 2 academy (AKA the demo) Im maniac on the edge! Well I have to say goodbye to my dearly beloved Call of Duty 2. It will be in a better home that might even put it in its case when their done playing it. Ill miss you COD2. But with 3 im going to be rank 3 all the time!!!!1
