LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game is the ultimate combination of toys and fandom. The original and new Star Wars characters join together in cute LEGO form to play out the storylines for Episodes I, II and III. Lightsaber duels, starfighter chases, and the use of Jedi force to blast things apart are included as you control the main characters from the movies themselves in story mode, or play unlocked characters in free mode. Full stories from the movies create a fun one- to two-player environment as Star Wars' world comes to life.
Kira Says: Firstly, this is definitely one of the cutest games to become available on any system that isn't a puzzle game. Although a simple game, there's enough to keep a kid busy long enough to stay out of trouble. The graphics are simple yet detailed, keeping the original designs and turning them into adorable LEGO details. It can appeal to children and adults alike who tire of always have to start over in other games because Star Wars offers infinite lives, which is perfect for younger games who can't quite get the hang of it right off the bat. Unfortunately, the game is almost too simplistic, using only about two buttons most of the time. Lightsabers are used to battle friends or foes with only a single press of a button to do any attack or defense move. The storylines, though they follow the movie, are very simplistic and don't allow for much deviation, much to the dismay of older players with adventurous minds. Difficulty doesn't change as you continue through the game, remaining very unchallenging. However, there are perks to single player or two-player as it is always fun to blow each other up into little LEGO pieces. The ship battles are fun, as well as easy to control as well.
Joe Says:: LEGO Star Wars has a decent adaptation from the films, keeping the majority of the storylines from Episodes I, II and III. Although it has no voice acting, the expressions on the characters faces are amusing and 'death' is entertaining as droids and humans alike break into smaller LEGO pieces. There's a large character selection as the player can unlock more than 30 characters to play as throughout free mode or story mode, in which you can follow the storyline of the movies. The story mode is very linear, being mostly mission based in which you can sometimes backtrack to previous areas, though they don't offer much in the way of entertainment. The force ability is fun as well, enabling the character to blow up objects to obtain a form of money used later in the game, build bridges or complete other events (with the simple touch of the same button continually throughout the game) or to even make chairs dance to theme music from the movies. In the way of actual gameplay, the controls are a little blocky, but it wouldn't be so bad if the cameras would cooperate better. There is no way to move the camera, which annoyingly stays the same throughout two-player story mode as well as single-player, constantly blocking the view of attacks or movement.

Positives and Negatives:
The Good + Cute graphics + Team kill allows fun for all at any time + Force ability can be used for destruction or gaining new items + Vehicles are fun and easy to control + Follows storylines of movies + Infinite lives
The not so good - Not too complex - Too linear at times, too simplistic - Bad camera angles, cannot change - Very much a two-button game

Bottom line: LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game is a great children's game that offers a surprising amount of ingenuitity from the original material of the first three (newer) Star Wars movies. With many characters to choose from and fun graphics, an easy story line and Jedi force to demolish or gain, it's a unique addition to a video gamer's library, a great family game for kids and parents alike, and definitely a necessity to any Star Wars or LEGO fan's collection.

I agree that it'll sell 10 copies if they're lucky. I'm sick of George Lucas milking Star Wars. I'm pretty sick of Star Wars in general but Episode 3 looks good. HA>:( Yeah right.

I'm sure it'll sell by the boatload - plenty of lucas fans out ther (bit like apple - they are old and sad but love lucas or apple) - and there are plenty of gamers and parents who need games for their kids - too many adult/teen games for the xbox, not enough titles to grab the younger gamers imagination.
overall, this looks like a renter to me

the lego brand is more familiar to older gamers than to the younger generation. kids(4-8years old) don't even play legos anymore, they want an ipod or a dvd player. maybe they got more "gameplay" into this title because it doesn't strain the consoles with the need to push a high polygon count. definite rent before buy.
