Who Needs The NFL or EA? Midway Got Game

Playing in The League is your dream but you’ve paid the price. Your arms ache from weight-room reps and painkillers are blurring your vision. The dirty hits you’ve laid on QBs are career-enders but they also keep you employed. Two more sacks and you get your bonus, paying for your fast cars and faster lifestyle. Its 4th and 3 and you are up by 7. Stuff the offense, beat your opponents bloody and win at any cost.

While some of you sit patiently awaiting the official kick-off to this year’s N(o)-F(un)-L(eague), we thought it might be helpful to send you a simple, heartfelt reminder that the REAL football season is set to begin on October 3rd when Blitz: The League tackles store shelves nationwide.

Bone-shattering hits? Check. A "story mode" ripped straight from today and tomorrow’s sports page headlines? Check. A Hall-of-Fame cover boy to help us create a game that stays "true" to the sport? Two letters...L.T.

Exaggerating what actually happens in real life on-and-off the field? No Chance in Hell.

Blitz: The League, is a new, unlicensed videogame exposing the harsh realism and troubling, behind-the-scenes stories of a fictional professional football league. Blitz: The League has been in development at Midway's Chicago studio for the past year in collaboration with a writer from ESPN's controversial "Playmakers" TV series. Blitz: The League goes behind the glitz and glamour of the game through a revolutionary campaign mode that explores the on-field violence, off-field fallout and front-office politics of professional football.

"Midway's Chicago studio has laid the foundation over the past year for what is the ultimate alternative to watered down NFL sanctioned football games," said Steve Allison, chief noisemaker at Midway. "No longer bound to the NFL license, there will be no league restrictions on content and gamers will finally experience what makes playing a football videogame really fun: off-field controversies, dirty hits, excessive celebrations and much more. Blitz: The League buyers will be assured of one thing - our game will include all the gameplay and fun the NFL won't allow."

About Blitz: The League
Blitz: The League will feature a powerful story mode that, for the first time ever in a football videogame, explores the realism, lifestyle and drama found in professional football (Minus the drugs we presume - X365). Players will take the helm of a downtrodden football franchise and retool the players and coaching staff in a quest to guide them to the league championship. Additional features include intense multiplayer action with head-to head online play and complete customization of players, teams, stadiums and more.

EA never puts enough time and care into their games to make them look good and have good playability.

Hard to believe I used to be a die-hard madden fan...back in the tim eof the SNES versions of Madden94. Super High Impact got my attention, and then blitz showed up soon after. Ever since then, I have been playing the incarnations of BLitz which offered me a little more than just plain old endorsements and the typical 3 and out. Blitz gave meaning to 'HARD HITTING' which I still respect to this day. So I say to Midway, Just bring it! I just love knocking helments off..a great dminating way to end a 'come-back' drive. Totally makes my football game experiences fun. Which is one of the many reasons why I dont play Madden games or any EA branded football games anymore. Their for stiffs....hard hits are a part of any NFL game.

P.S. There where funny taunts on Super High Impact... Such as: You Momma's Boy!! You're Going down !!!

I always preferred Sega sports, since the dreamcast. Thought it looked and played better. All Madden did was to make a football game for the PS2, then port it to the Xbox. Which it could have been much better. The xbox can do much more the PS2. But anyway, this game needs GREAT gameplay. And I do mean great. Without the NFL, honestly, you will not have many buyers out there. You need to get the word out on how great this game is and make people buy it. I think this game is not going to sell, without the GREAT gameplay. Did I mention it needs great gameplay?

Madden is the number one football franchise only b/c of fan boys out there. All they do is get the game for the name. Sega did better at the nfl. Sega had to, since EA would not make any games for the dreamcast- for what ever reason. They seen Sega was doing better then payed the nfl to be the only company to make games for the nfl. Is it just me or is this a MONOPOLY! No matter which one you prefer, we as gamers lose. No compitition, no one to push you to be better. And EA is in bed with Sony, expect to always play a PS2/PS3 port.

I hope that EA makes the money they are supposed to, or else they'll get the Corporate AX !! And we all know what that means, the NFL will go elsewhere for money and cut EA's contract down by several years. Who here can imagine just playing Madden all the time ? Madden WILL get stale halfaway through their contract.....they're gonna screw up..watch them.

^^now how is it going to get stale and shoot itsle fin the foot?? EA barely changes the game from ywar to year yet look at all the people buying it.. yes it may not be the best football game out there but its percieved as the best and now is the only one with the nfl license.. madden football is going to ride there new found monopoly like nuts.. opefuly the football games competing with it will still drive them enough to atleast fix and add new things to the game year after year other than updating the rosters etc.. which I could easily see them do...
