Logitech Cordless Controller |

Controllers are the single most purchased console accessory. There is a wealth of controllers on the market; consumers can find any type of controller under the sun, translucent red controllers, small controllers, huge controllers, arcade style controllers, wired controllers, wireless controllers, controllers with specialized rubber grips and controllers with fans in them. Logitech has thrown their experience and gaming peripheral track record into the Xbox realm by releasing a wireless Xbox controller.
The Logitech Cordless Controller for Xbox is a 2.4 GHz wireless controller that is designed with freedom from cords in mind. How many members of the gaming community have long been fighting the oppressive nature and overbearing presence of cords. I know I have. For the past 16 months I have secretly been organizing the Cordless Liberation Front (CLF). The CLF is a worldwide organization made up volunteer freedom fighters with a single goal in mind: locating, eliminating and exterminating archaic corded controllers around the globe. By 2005 we hope to have eradicated the antiquated practice of shackling a gamer to his console, thereby trapping him/her and fastening their posterior to the lump of foam known as a couch cushion. We are here to liberate. We are here to force a regime change; the corded bullies of the past will no longer obstruct justice. We will be victorious. And to this end, Logitech has joined the battle. But do we want them? Does their wireless advocate deserve to be part of the CLF?
The Logitech Cordless Controller for Xbox utilizes a 2.4 GHz radio frequency to transmit data between the controller and the dongle (the receiver that plugs into the console). Logitech has developed a 2.4 GHz hopping technology that promises not to interfere with any of the other 2.4 GHz devices in your home. I have a Netgear wireless network which operates at 2.4 GHz set up in my house, and I experienced no problems with interference or collisions. The controller has a 50-foot range, and it is powered by four AA batteries. The batteries add a little bit of heft to the controller, but it is not overwhelming by any means. I have used the controller for hours without noticing the weight difference between the Logitech controller and the other Xbox controllers I own.

The other main concern with any wireless gaming peripheral is lag. This has been an issue among PC gamers, and has also caused many to hold out on switching to wireless devices. A controller must respond to the actions of the gamer immediately. The Logitech controller also comes through is this area. I did not notice any latency or lack of response in the unit, and it was tested on a multitude of games that require quick response, including Fighting games, Racing games and Sports games.
The Logitech Cordless Controller for Xbox is slightly longer and more contoured than other controllers are the market. The exterior has a textured finish that makes gripping the controller easier. It seems as if they truly designed this controller they way they thought the Xbox controller should be. The controller incorporates the full vibration functions common to most controllers today. Logitech uses a dual motor feedback system to maximize feedback experience in games. The analog sticks of the Logitech controller may be more comfortable and easy to use than the analog stick found on other Xbox controllers. The movement of the sticks seem fluid and easy, and they also seems a little shorter than most. This creates a more comfortable resting position for your thumbs when playing for extended periods. The controller also has the standard D-pad and pressure sensitive buttons. The black and white buttons also seem a little more accessible in their position on the controller. You can have up to eight controllers in a room and not experience any interference with the Logitech Cordless Controller.
The only major problem with this controller is the price. With a $69.95 SRP (each), the Logitech Cordless Controller is a bit pricey for the average gamer. Two controllers are almost the same price as the console, and I would like to see the price point lowered to make the controller a little more affordable.
Overall – 9 Outside of the price, I could find nothing wrong with the controller. Everything worked flawlessly; it is comfortable and does exactly what it is designed to do. This is by far the best cordless controller I have ever used. While it is an expensive accessory, you certainly get what you pay for. This has become my primary controller, which speaks volumes for the quality of the controller.

Does this thing work with Xbox Live? Will the voice communicator work? If so, this controller would be amazing..

news flash! (sega´s developer "From Software") Otogi has the same crappy control scheme that most of there 3rd person games have (remember Gunvalkrye?) where the game looks and plays pretty awesome, but crippled by a control scheme you can´t change. Otogi uses the same exact game engine that Gun Valkrye uses and you have to be a die-hard fan to really like this.
I tried it on the the demo and had a really bad flash-back of wasting money on gunvalkrye. save your money, it´s not what it looks to be.

The rubber tops to these controllers WILL wear out with normal use. Logitech does NOT offer replacements - even though they just slip on and off.
They want you to return your controller to the point of purchase, or get an RMA number and send it back to Logitech.
How absurd for a .25 cent piece of rubber!
Buyer beware!
